The AWDA home office located at 818 Pollard Boulevard suffered a severe flood on January 3rd resulting in major water damage to all three floors of the facility. A disaster recovery team has come in to survey the damage to the building. It is still unknown how long it will take to get the building up and running.
ALL AWDA SERVICES ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC
An emergency plan has been implemented so that we may continue to offer our services to the public. Those seeking services can board the AWDA Cyber Bus located in the parking lot at 818 Pollard Boulevard for a referral to the proper temporary location. Transportation is being provided from 818 Pollard Boulevard to the temporary center for employment and Job Fair services.
All other agencies and partners have been relocated to other facilities, with the exception of the taxi department. While the main building will remain closed during the recovery period, the Mayor’s Youth Program and Taxi department will continue to operate out of the building. Those seeking the Mayor’s Youth Program should enter the building through the rear entrance on Little Street.
All telephone and voicemail systems have been restored as of today. Staff members will not have immediate access to their telephones but will be checking their voicemail periodically and can be contacted via email. If you have questions please contact AWDA at (404) 658-9675.
