
Mayor Franklin Visits Atlanta Public High Schools (APS)

Mayor Franklin has been visiting Atlanta Public High Schools to introduce the class of 2008 to the Mayor’s Youth Program. In its fourth year, the Mayor’s Youth Program is gearing up to assist all graduating seniors in the Atlanta Public School system, as well as those of city of Atlanta employees, prepare for post-secondary education and/or to enter the workforce.
On Wednesday, October 17, 2007, Carver High School seniors listened as Mayor Franklin explained the qualifications for the program stating, “This program is for all of you, for the valedictorian as well as the person holding seat number 125 in the class. If you are an Atlanta Public school senior, then you are eligible to receive assistance from this program.”
The Mayor’s Youth Program offers students the opportunity to develop and implement practical and individualized plans for their future. In the programs first three years, over 2,000 seniors participated, receiving mentoring, summer internships, training and/or financial assistance.
